Summer really doesn’t feel like summer until you’ve ordered a cone or a sundae from the neighborhood ice cream parlor. Fortunately for residents of Chevy Chase, the walk-up window at the Sugar Fox is open for sidewalk service on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2 pm to 8 pm. Like its sister restaurant Little Red Fox, Sugar Fox is operated by husband-and-wife team Anne Alfano and Matt Carr, with a special emphasis on bringing gourmet flair to classic American favorites. 

Accordingly, the menu is relatively simple–you can order scoops of house-made ice cream or sorbets, milkshakes, custom ice cream sandwiches, or cupcakes. The flavors are where things get interesting. The kitchen staff mixes up classics like dark chocolate sorbet and mint chip alongside totally unique creations like lemon hibiscus sorbet and strawberry creme fraiche ice cream. Toppings run the gamut from standard sprinkles to chocolate pop rocks.
